Interview tips you dare not miss

While appearing for an interview, questions may differ from industry to industry, but some dos and don’ts remain the same.

Interview is your first impression on your dream company after your resume. From clothes to conduct to language to information to skill – everything is important. Employers don’t just want a skilled person, they want a complete package of skills and soft skills. Questions may differ from industry to industry, but some dos and don’ts remain the same. Here are a few tips for your next interview:
Know yourself
Though more important for first timers, but even those who have worked for a few years tend to short sell themselves. Know your strong, weak and saleable points. Understand the job profile thoroughly and articulate your words accordingly.
Know the interviewer
In times of social networking and professional networking it’s very easy to know the person you are scheduled to meet. Try to look up the profile of the interviewer, it will help you conduct yourself in the right way.
Identify saleable points and talk well about them
You know your job and your achievements more than anyone. Be prepared and prioritise them in your head. Depending on the profile state nice and crisp without sounding verbose.
Do not keep personals on the table
This includes everything from - bag, wallet, mobile and also your elbows. In terms of body language, this is a complete no. Don’t rest yourself o the table and keep your bag near the chair you are sitting on.
Informal formality
That’s the style for an interview these days. You have to be proper, without being stiff.
Dress smart
Your dress up may not be the only thing, but it’s the first thing to be noticed. Wearing formals is safe and best. Stay away from T-Shirts and torn jeans. Comfort and cleanliness should be the motto.
Ladies, be minimal
We are asking you to dress smart and not provocative. Stay away from plunging neck lines or short skirts. Heavy duppattas and too much jewelry will also be difficult to handle and will distract both the parties.
If you don't know the answer accept it
It’s not necessary that everyone knows everything. Please do not cook up, if you don't know the answer say so. Don't jump to answer a question, take time to think.
Don't try to be a wisecrack
Sense of humour is great, but in an interview you will be judged for things which matter to the company. Be light hearted but don’t be frivolous. For phone interviews, don’t let sarcasm make way through your voice.
Everyone wants a positive person
This may sound like a cliche, but be good human being. Employers are looking for more than skills. Be smart, don't criticise and don't accept criticism, tackle it.
Learn from every interaction
Every job profile has its own requirements. Don’t be disheartened if you are not called for the next round. Review it in your mind and do your learning and move to the next one.

The best quick fix diet plan

The good news is, it’s not just case of scrimping and skipping meals, if you stick to the tips and follow the menu, you’ll definitely feel the benefit even if your big date is just days away.
  1. Always eat breakfast – Kick-start your body’s engine with a low fat, slow release, unrefined meal. And aim for a 300-350 calorie meal to fit in with the body’s natural metabolism which is primed in the morning and tails off during the day.
  2. Hydrate – Drink plenty of fluids (water, herbal teas and sugar-free cordial); aim for two litres spread throughout the whole day and you’ll feel more energised, toxins will be flushed away and your complexion will definitely improve.
  3. Don’t skip mealseat evenly throughout the day – Your body actually burns up calories in digesting food, so the fewer meals you eat, the less of a chance it has to do that.
  4. Kick the booze – If you drink your maximum recommended units (21 per week for women), then you are taking in more than 1,000 extra calories. Strengthen that willpower and try to cut alcohol as much possible in the lead up to the big day.
  5. Don’t scrimp on protein – Eat a portion of protein at lunchtime – to help avoid an energy slump in the afternoon, which could have you heading for the vending machine.
  6. Eat mindfully – You can’t afford to ‘waste’ calories by eating mindlessly at the fridge, or straight from the saucepan. Make sure that you sit down to savour all your meals and snacks.
  7. Get a smaller plate – swap your normal plate for a slightly smaller one, it makes your meals seem larger and you'll find your 'full switch' will flip a little faster.
  8. Say no to processed food – If it comes in a packet, leave it on the supermarket shelf, you’re automatically eliminating food manufacturers’ high fat and high sugar products.
  9. Move more – remember as well as cutting calories you can burn them too – make sure you compliment the 10-point plan with physical activity.
  10. Mix it up  make sure you don’t eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner day-in day-out.

10 important steps in wealth building

Wealth creation is a time consuming, easy to understand and very difficult to implement process. There are no cut fast rules on how to create wealth.
Deepak Parekh, Uday Kotak, Rashesh Shah, Nirmal Jain, Raheja, Hiranandani, are all people who have created wealth by the greatest method. Run a good business, leverage with people and brand building. Leverage with geography and borrowed funds….then take the company public. By doing this every rupee of earning gets valued at 30 for Mr. Deepak Parekh (HDFC has a P/E of 30) and similar numbers for the others. These people made their money from equities, debt, commodities and of course listing their companies!  I am not talking that league, yet.
Let us see what all you should know — we will start with 10 steps:
1. Understand the Power of Compounding: it looks odd to realise that the power of compounding is NOT taught well at school! They give you some simple examples — rarely are you taught the POWER! Even people working in financial services do not appreciate the power of compounding. Ignore this only at YOUR OWN PERIL.
2. Understand the Power of NOW: LEARN the power of starting to compound as soon as possible in life. If you have not understood, NO TIME LIKE TODAY..pick up the pen, call the advisor, click on the net — whateva…just start, NOW, TODAY.
3. Understand the Power of Regularity — start a SIP AND make sure you do it regularly — not missing a single month. If by chance you do miss a month of investing, immediately pick up a cheque and send it in! At the end of a YEAR you should have invested 12* Amount being invested every month. If suddenly you have money, top up the SAME account.
4. Understand the power of Not Touching the Money for 'n' years: Capital and Wealth creation needs long periods of growth. If you do not touch the money for any sundry purpose, leave it untouched. This helps in compounding. REmember this for life!
5. Understand the power of LEARNING: If you are willing to wish to invest in equities — directly or through mutual funds,    learn as much  as possible about equities. Invest in learning, before you invest your money.
6. If you do not (or will not) learn about equities, never mind, learn the power of indexing in equities!
7. Learn simple things like keeping your accounts in an excel sheet and keep track of the paise….the rupee will take care of itself. Track your income, collect all monies due, track your expenses, track your investing and returns.
8. For events which you know invest. For sad events which MAY happen, insure. You never know….
9.Remember delayed gratification may not be easy, learn it. Food which gives 30 seconds of pleasure on the tongue stays in your waist for 30 years. I understand this….but when I see a sweet I still fall for it. Knowing and implementing are completely different animals. Alas!
10. Invest in education, training, health, travel and fun. Very important to remember do not forget the present for doing something great in the future. The future is important, but the present is vital.
